First of all, I wanted to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey and helping Succulent Joe’s to grow. I’ve met some great people in the succulent community and I appreciate all those who have shared ideas, tips and tricks along the way that I used for my own plants. I started my Instagram account @succulentjoe in February of 2017 to document my experience as I attempted to grow succulents in the desert. I knew it would be a challenge, but I was determined to have my own collection of succulents that I could enjoy and possibly sell at the nursery in the future. I have been beyond blessed and thankful for the growth of that account since I started. I never thought that I would find anyone who was interested in what I was doing! I’m glad I was wrong!
For those who are new to Succulent Joe’s, my family has a nursery in Bermuda Dunes, CA and we’ve been selling plants in the wholesale industry now over thirty years. I have experience with many varieties of desert shrubs, trees and ornamental plants that are used in both commercial and residential landscaping in the Coachella Valley. I have taken a special interest though in aloes and agaves, as these types of succulents tend to be more hardy during the hottest months in the desert. However, with a little more care and protection from the summer heat, I’ve learned that there are other types of succulents that can survive too during these harsh months.
We have a greenhouse at the nursery where I keep most of my succulents during the summer. As long as they are provided with shade and cool air, they can last for a long time. With my new website, I plan to not only sell what I have at the nursery, but I also plan on sharing more blog and Instagram posts and videos that will be helpful to anyone who is new to succulents or who just wants to see my collection. I do consider succulents not only as a hobby of mine, but a passion too as I continue to learn and share my experiences with you all.
Thank you for visiting my site! I’m looking forward to growing with you!
